Audio recording equipment
My recording equipment basically consists of a Hi-Minidisc recorder mod. Sony MZ-RH1 (an in-depth review can be found here) and a one-point stereo microphone mod. Sony ECM-MS907.

Hi-Minidisc recorders like mine can record in uncompressed linear PCM format (1.4 Mbps). If a long recording is needed, compression modes based on Sony's Atrac algorithm are available. For instance, recording in Hi-SP compression mode (256 kbps) is still a very good-quality recording mode, but makes a 1GB minidisc capable of storing about 8 hours of recording, while it would store just about 1.5 hours in PCM mode.
The MS907 microphone is a prosumer one, and its main limit is the hi-frequency cutoff at 15 kHz. However, it does well the job for which it has been designed.
New equipment 2009
After having bought a new, silent PC, I have also bought something to add to my home recording gear. The new pieces of my equipment are: an M-Audio MobilePre external USB audio interface and an Audio Technica AT2050 condenser microphone.
