Enrico Nichelatti

Amateur violinist

Audio recordings

This section hosts a few audio recordings of my performances, practice sessions and home-studio sessions (alone, in group, or alone with a backtrack). The recording are sorted in chronological order, from the bottom of the page to its top.

I took the ABRSM Grade 8 certificate in violin (with merit) in June 2007 at the age of 43. Even though I spend rather a good amount of time practicing (about 3 hours per day, and consider that I must work during the day), I am of course not a professional player. I am just an amateur player, so please don't expect the following recordings to be pro-level ones. I play and record myself just for the fun of doing it. These recording are here mainly to share them with my friends and family.

Orchestra   First violins

Legal notice. All the recordings hosted in this webpage were taken live and edited by me with my own equipment. All the music in the recordings was performed by me, alone or in group. The composers of the pieces in the recordings are no more living and died earlier than 70 years ago.

2009

To test my new recording equipment, I multitrack-recorded the first movement of a duet by Mazas (Op. 38, Duet n.8). I play both the parts.

Three Strauss recordings from Scuola Orchestra's traditional Concert of New Year's Day, held in Anguillara Sabazia (Rome, Italy). I performed as first violin -as stand partner of the concertmaster- with Scuola Orchestra's Simphonic Orchestra, directed by A. Bellaccini. Recorded live on January 1st, 2009.

2008

Bach's Brandenburg Concert n.5, mvmt.I, performed by our chamber group "Distrazioni Armoniche." I played as Violino Principale (concert master). Live recording of our recital performance of June 15th, 2008. The audio quality is not that good: too much reverb (uncorrectly set microphone) and noises from the audience.

Three movements from a concert of Mozart's Requiem, held in Anguillara Sabazia on June 7th. Our symphony "Orchestra Scuola Orchestra", directed by A. Bellaccini, and the choir "Coro Diapason", directed by P. Ghezzo, joined their efforts on this occasion. I played as first violin, "violino concertino" (stand partner of the concert master, who was my teacher, F. Paoletti).

Recording of a rehearsal with the pianist (M. Tisano) for my next June recital: Paganini's Cantabile.

Bellaccini. Recorded live on January 1st, 2008.

2007

Corelli - Christmas Concerto Op. 6 No. 8 (I played as "Violino I Principale" here, i.e. concertmaster, performing with the "Gruppo Evening Ensemble", directed by M. Tisano). This was recorded live at a Telethon fund-raising concert held in Anguillara Sabazia (Rome, Italy) on December 15th 2007.

Paganini's Cantabile. I practiced this piece for violin and guitar (the actual bactrack I used has a piano sound because I don't have a decent guitar soundfont) just for fun. I haven't practiced it along its full length yet, so the first half part only of it is in the recording. Recorded at home.

From Scuola Orchestra's traditional Concert of New Year's Day, the Ouverture of Rossini's Il Viaggio a Reims, Mozart's Ave Verum Corpus (instrumental only version), and Strauss' Blue Danube Waltz. I performed as principal second violin in this concert. Recorded live at our performance on January 1st, 2007, in Anguillara Sabazia (Rome, Italy).

2006

Brahms - Scherzo in C minor from Sonata FAE. This piece was one of my ABRSM Grade 8 exam pieces. In this recording, I practice it over the piano backtrack I bought on CD from the ABRSM online shop.

In May 2006 I performed as principal second violin in a concert held in a very famous venue, the Chiesa degli Artisti, in Piazza del Popolo, Rome, Italy. The concert was performed by Scuola Orchestra's chamber group and L'Insieme Harmonico choir. The conductor, P. Rosati, arranged the pieces, which included Mozart's Ein Musikalischer Spass (KV 522 - orchestra only) and Liszt-Janącek's Mass in B flat major (orchestra and choir). Here you can listen to one movement of each one of these compositions. Recorded live at our performance (May 28th, 2006).

2005

Bach's Prelude of Suite I (BWV 1007). This piece by Bach is originally for solo cello. I played a transcription for solo violin which I found here. Recorded at home.

Bach's Air on G string. I played this well-known piece with Andrea, a student of the same teacher of mine. Our teacher, Fabrizio Paoletti, arranged the piece for two violins. Recorded at our music school.

During the first half of 2005, I recorded two Mazas' duets for two violins with a friend of mine, Andrea, who is also a student of my same teacher. Here are the recordings of these two duets. Recorded at our music shool.

Raff's Cavatina. I played this romantic piece over a piano backtrack. Recorded at home with my old cheap PC microphone.
